Our Philosophy

Communication 101
We put extreme emphasis on communication in our training program, communication between owner and trainer as well as horse and rider. We want to know off the bat what your goals are for you and your horse so that we can better serve you both.

It doesn’t matter if a horse comes in with no training at all or has been under saddle for 4 years we always start from the ground up to find any holes in their training. From basic groundwork to under saddle work it is all of the same importance. Without a solid communication on the ground you cannot hope to achieve solid communication in the saddle.

Watching For Holes
I don’t believe in “miracle” training starting a horse in week one and having them solid in 30 days, because they won’t be solid there will be a lot of things that were left out, not explained and you will have left your horse with questions and mental as well as physical fatigue. We start from the ground up for a reason to prepare the horse for a rider on their back both mentally and physically, we teach all the same things on the ground that we will apply in the saddle. Including but not only forward motion, stopping, backing, moving away from pressure left to right.

Training horses is like reading a 30 chapter 1000 page book, on occasion you have to backtrack and re read a chapter to keep up with what is going on in the story line. The same thing applies here for every good week that a horse has moving forward in their training they are going to have a bad day where we have to go back and review. Nine times out of ten we will spend two or three days reviewing just to ensure that the horse understands the task at hand and is completely comfortable with, it is simply a part of quality teaching and guaranteeing success.

Don't Push It
Another huge part of our program is never pushing a horse beyond their limits mentally or physically, this can apply to their current status due to age or personality type or it could be a career limitation due to conformation, type, mental ability or athletic ability. Your horse will never be fatigued here, they will be prepared for each session that we do, this comes from careful individual attention and analysis. We train each horse as an individual there is no set game plan here, it is solely dependant upon each individual.

Goal #1 Lifetime Success
Above all else we want to see horse and rider have a long and successful partnership doesn’t matter if that will be in the show ring or just down the trails every horse and their rider deserves to have a complete and balanced communication and relationship. This is what we strive to achieve.
